Ridgestone Lodge shares the vision of the Journeys Calgary program, supporting individuals in a purpose-built lodge to support aging people. Ridgestone Lodge is fully accessible, with resident suite’s all on one main floor. Each suite is equipped with its own roll-in shower, as well as both emergency on-call systems installed in the private space in every suite and a portable device for individual residents to carry on their person if they so choose. Residents also have a number of shared spaces within the lodge, and are actively involved in determining how these spaces are used. Ridgestone Lodge itself is an active community, and we support individuals to have active involvement in the community around them as well.
Are there different eligibility criteria for Ridgestone Lodge?
Yes – individuals must be aged 45 years or older, as the facility has been zoned as 45+. They must also be eligible for 24 hour support through PDD, and comfortable living in a group setting.
Individuals must also have a stable mental health diagnosis for the past 5 years. We will consider clients with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression, but cannot consider additional people with borderline personality disorder or active delusional disorder due to the challenges of congregate living.
Can Ridgestone Lodge support medical support needs too?
Yes – we can support with total personal care, lifting and transferring (using a mechanical lift), medication administration, colostomy and catheter care, nutrition/feeding and more.
We are currently unable to perform invasive procedures, but continue discussions with PDD and AHS to build further capacity to support with complex medical needs.
